Are you excited for Flashpoint?

Warner Bros. has confirmed a Flashpoint movie during their Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2017. The studio officially launched their DC Extended Universe last year with Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice – a follow-up to Snyder’s Man of Steel – and they followed up that movie with David Ayer’s Suicide Squad and Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman. Now, they’re gearing up to unite the world’s finest heroes – Superman (Henry Cavill), Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) – against Steppenwolf and his Parademon army in Snyder’s Justice League this fall.

The next DCEU movie following Justice League is James Wan’s Aquaman in 2018 and then David F. Sandberg’s Shazam! in 2019. After that, the current DCEU lineup remains a mystery. The Flash was originally supposed to follow Justice League by releasing in March 2018. However, the movie lost multiple directors – both Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa dropped the project in 2016, citing creative differences – thus forcing the studio to remove the film from their slate. The nightmare sequence in BvS with Bruce waking up to The Flash, who is attempting to make contact with Batman felt awkwardly out of place, but it would make sense in the larger arc of the DCEU as a connection to Flashpoint.

For those that don’t know, in Flashpoint, the Flash had gone back in time and prevented the Reverse-Flash from murdering his mother, thereby creating an alternate timeline in which Superman had been captured by the government and Bruce Wayne had been murdered instead of his parents, with Aquaman and Wonder Woman leading their respective empires in a world-ending war against one another.
We will next see Ezra Miller’s DCEU Flash in Justice League this fall!
